Terms

Use the data carefully.

PlateReaderMap summarizes public source material for research and informational use. These terms describe the limits of that service.

Last materially updated: August 21, 2026

Informational service

PlateReaderMap is not a government service, law-enforcement database, legal service, or manufacturer product. Information on the site may be incomplete, delayed, outdated, or incorrect and should not be treated as verification of a physical camera, a vehicle location, criminal activity, or agency conduct.

Plate lookup interpretation

A match means only that the submitted state-and-plate combination appears in released search-audit records available to PlateReaderMap. It does not establish that a vehicle was suspected of a crime, physically detected by a camera, or present in the searching agency’s jurisdiction. No result does not mean a plate was never searched.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to harass, threaten, discriminate, stalk, identify private people, conduct bulk plate enumeration, defeat access controls, overload the endpoint, or plan routes intended to evade lawful detection. Automated bulk extraction and attempts to reconstruct private source archives are prohibited.

Source rights and attribution

OpenStreetMap-derived camera data is subject to the Open Database License and attribution requirements described by OpenStreetMap. Other documents and data remain subject to their respective source terms and applicable law. PlateReaderMap branding, presentation, and original editorial material may not be used to imply endorsement or affiliation.

Availability and changes

Features may be corrected, limited, or withdrawn to protect privacy, data quality, security, or service availability. PlateReaderMap provides the site as available without a guarantee that every feature, source, or record will remain accessible.
